Store Closing

Greetings Froggie Friends,

We are writing with a story to tell. This story has 2 parts. One is happy and one is sad. As our Froggie Friends, we want you to hear the story first.

We’ll begin with the happy part! In November of 2005, a dream started at 115 W. Court Square. The freckled frog was born. We have literally been living that dream for the past 8 years. Coming to our shop every day still feels like something we "get" to do rather than something we "have" to do. Over the years, our store has seen lots of changes: ending consignment, creating a baby registry, expanding into furniture and bedding, moving to the highway, moving back to The Square, Debbie getting a new hip, Kendra moving to Florida AND moving back. Change is an inevitable part of life and we are about to embark on yet another. The time has come to start a new chapter of the freckled frog: an online chapter! Since we opened, the culture of shopping has drastically changed. With the increasing presence of online and Facebook boutiques, the children’s clothing market is more competitive than ever and people seem to be busier than ever. It seems only natural for us to take the freckled frog to the largest shopping venue, the World Wide Web at WWW.FRECKLED-FROG.COM. We will carry all of your favorites and baby must-haves: quilts, Kissy Kissy, bibs, diaper covers, satin crib shoes, Noodle & Boo, pearl bracelets and necklaces, Rosalina dolls and Stephen Joseph backpacks. Monogramming will still be available as well as free local delivery! Our website will be your go-to place for baby and birthday gifts!

In order for a new chapter to begin, one must end. This is the sad part of our story. We will be closing the brick and mortar store front on The Square. We can hardly remember life before "the frog" and aren’t sure what life will be like without it. It has been a most difficult decision, but ultimately, it is the direction the Lord has given us. Debbie is ready to semi-retire and Kendra will start a new adventure as a preschool teacher. It’s a bittersweet end-of-an-era.

The store closing process will begin the first of June and plan to complete the end of July. Everything is more fun with a party, so we will kick off the efforts with one final Hoppy Hour. The Silhouette Man

Have you called to make your appointment yet?  The Silhouette Man (a.k.a. Tim Arnold)  is coming back to the freckled frog JUNE 11 and 12!  That's a Wednesday and Thursday.  He'll be here from 10am to 5pm on Wednesday and from 10am to 6:30pm on Thursday.  While appointments aren't absolutely necessary, they are encouraged so the artist can come with the appropriate amount of supplies.  The silhouettes are $40 per child and you will receive 2 copies, a facing pair.  Additional copies of the same child are $10 each.  It does not matter what your child wears for his/her appointment; just make sure the hair is fixed just as you want it to look in the silhouette.  Tim is a 2nd generation silhouette artist and is amazing to watch!  What's even more amazing is that the appointments only take about 5 minutes each. The images will be mounted on your choice of white or ivory card stock and will fit in a standard 5x7 frame.

The Golden Egg: An Easter Tradition

As life and associate members, we love to help support Junior Auxiliary projects.  This one in particular is a super-easy one for you to be involved with too!  It's hard to believe that in 2014 some children right here in our own community go hungry.  School breakfast and lunch programs assure that they will at least get 2 meals during the week.  However, on the weekends, many children go hungry.  This snack pack program ensures that targeted children in need have food to eat.  You can bring your donation by to the freckled frog and we will deliver them to JA.  Thanks in advance for helping a child in need!

The CEDC (Covington Economic Development Corporation) is sponsoring a scarecrow contest on The Square.  A judging committee will choose one overall winner and the other winner will be chosen by YOU!  You can vote as many times as you like.  Votes are $1 each and can be made in our shop.  The proceeds from voting go to the CEDC.  What does the CEDC do?  This is a group of volunteers who are dedicated to the preservation and beautification of The Square.  They were responsible for spear heading the revitalization efforts and obtaining the grant money for the improvements made to our Square nearly 10 years ago.  Ongoing maintenenace and new projects are funded by the CEDC.  Court Square Park, The Farmer's Market and small details like eye-pleasing ash trays mounted to the light posts are just a few of the things we can thank the CEDC for.

Matilda Jane Trunk Show: Paint By Numbers Collection

Heritage Day 2013

Save the Date! HERITAGE DAY ON THE SQUARE is Saturday, September 28th from 9am to 4pm. The festivities will kick off with the annual Children's Parade around the square. This year's costume and wagon theme is...Dr. Seuss and Friends! Put on your thinking caps and start decorating!

It's Back to School Time!

 We want to see our freckled frog fashions in action! If your child wore a freckled frog outfit on the first day of school, please share it on our Facebook page! It can be an outfit just purchased or one passed down from big brother/sister. Any season, any year! Submit photos until this Saturday, August 10th.
